D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.
4-H agents develop and execute educational programs and activities that provide youth the opportunity to develop such life skills as self esteem, community and citizen responsibility, decision making, organization and social interaction. They are assisted in this goal by staff members of the LSU AgCenter, and both parish and state Cooperative Extension Service offices. School leaders, volunteer parents and other lay leaders who share their time and talents in service to this youth organization in Vernon Parish are a very fundamental element in the success of 4-H in Vernon Parish.
